As you already know Sanjoy Banru Banerjee passed away at 5:40 this Tuesday morning. After a long bout of uncontrollable fever patho tests started which pointed to Leukemia this happened in the afternoon of Friday. On Monday Banru went to Tata Cancer Centre in New Town.
Discussions examination of old report and a string of New Reports later the Docs said "Patient is in the Final Stage beyond medication so no admission.
We suggest you take him home and look after him for this last phase . .
Can we put him in a N Home. OK but no ICU NO Ventilator please!!!"
Last evening he was admitted to Nightangle Nursing Home, Theatre Road Oppo Pretoria St entrance. Very Early today the Doc said Banru's heart Beat is falling, may we put him on the Ventilator. Even then he could not survive.
His wife and son are the direct family members a lot of people came to the Nursing Home and later to the Keoratala Cremetorium.

Sanjay Kumar Banerjee Sanku Banru was lively friend standing by the beck and call to help.  Though from Kolkata his Pishi, Father's Sister, was married in Hazaribagh and so had a long list of cousins and relatives in the town of Hazaribagh all by the name Mukherjee. This was his introduction to HZB and so SXH.

Unlike most of us he lived on 15, Satish Mukherjee Road Kolkata 700026. The Name Satish Mukherjee is of a Great Grand Parent of Banru.  Now that I think of it there was another Kolkata cousin Late Prabuddha Mukherjee, Saheb, who left early from SXH and would have completed his ICSC IN 1968.

Unfortunately I did not find the names of Abhijit 1969 & Amitabha Mukherjee 1966 in HOXA roster.  Dr Sajal Mukherjee can perhaps give more details. I wish Banru  and Saheb RIP

Amitava Mukherjee (1966)

I am Dr. Amitava Mukherjee. Dropped out of School in perhaps 1962. Would have passed out in 1966 If I had continued.

I am Sanjay Chanku's pissi's son.

Sanjay Chanku was my Mejo Mama' s only son. We were great friends since childhood. He woukd come over to our home in Hazaribagh on many weekends when we were all students at SXS. I lived at their Satish Mukherjee Home (my Mamar Bari) for three years when I came to work n Calcutta, till I left for the US. It was a memorable stay. I was in Kolkatta during the last fortnight of May. He came to see me in Baghbazar on the 16th of May. Perfectly ok at least in look. When I went over to their home 0n the25th he said he had a stroke. Then all of a sudden he called me on the 1st of June to say he was suffering from that dreaded disease. I spoke to Dhiman who was his physician and he told me Sanjay was very very sick. It was all over by Tuesday.

I will miss your obstinate arguments. I will miss your ever keen willingness to help. I will miss eating ice creams together in numbers that would scare ice cream vendors on Gorer Math. I will not have someone to accompany me in sustaing a sweetmeat shop by eating Sandesh everyday in uncountable numbers..... Great personal loss.... RIP.

Arun Mathur (1969)

Very sad to hear about Barnu. During our Prep leave for ISC he was great company while revising chemistry sitting out in the sun. It was fun studying together and that certainly kept me awake! That was the fun of being a boarder - you were never bored. His sudden passing away brings up old memories of a kind of family away from home. My sincerest condolences to the family for losing such a delightful Husband and Father.

Arun - 1969.
