Nigel Callaghan (1967)

Much loved and respected SJ Pioneer, Teacher, Trevor Howard "look-a-like" and Mentor. 

He took English Language and Literature to a whole new level with Anthony Trollope's novel "Barchester Towers, " and  "Current Affairs" lessons based on topical news articles from Daily Newspapers. You never would believe how much passion he enthused in us testosterone charged teenagers over a 30 minute heated debate on Hydro-Electric Power Vs Fossil Fuels etc. (global issues even to this day!).                            

Master of English, he often threw the Big Red Book (on Grammar) at us when we fouled up our Summary and Precis writing. We carry the Hallmark of KG in our hearts and in our veins to this day. Thanks to him.

Fr. Grogan S.J autographed me a quote (on 1st. Dec 1967) by John Henry Newman ;

"May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done! Then in His Mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last."
