Hoxan Appeal

An Appeal for Help for a Senior Hoxan

Dear HOXANs: Srinath Dutta, a senior HOXAN from the class of 1960, and a member of the first batch of students to join SXS in 1952,  was diagnosed to have Kidney Cancer with spread to his lungs in 2010. Subsequently he has had multiple surgeries including removal of a large cancerous growth  from his left Kidney. As per his doctors, Srinath's chances of survival for more than 5 years with oral chemotherapy  is very good. However, without chemotherapy, survival of less than 6 months is expected. The cost of chemotherapy (Sorafenib), which will be required for at least the next few years, is about Rs 10,000 per month . However, Srinath  and his family have already spent about Rs 11 lakhs and are currently at their wits end.  Because of the accumulating financial burden and his hesitation to request assistance from outside the family, Srinath made a decision to stop this life saving oral medications starting this January. When some of his HOXA friends (including Bulu Imam)  came to know about his decision, they contacted Principal Fr. James and this website admin; hence this appeal to Hoxans for help.

Dear HOXANs, Srinath Dutta lives with his family in Kolkata; he has two children and a grandchild; a little financial assistance from each one of you, can make a world of difference to Srinath Dutta and his family. I urge all of you who can, to pitch in and help with whatever monetary assistance you can.

Web admin note: Dear Hoxans, in 2012 about 40 of you rose to the occasion superbly and helped out by raising Rs 5.4 lacs for a kidney transplant for the spouse of a senior Hoxan.  I am hoping you will be generous again this time, especially the ones who did not have the opportunity to do so last time. It is always a blessing to get a chance to demonstrate that we live by our school motto: In veritate et caritate (Parhit Dharm).
