HOXAN APPEAL (UPDATE)

Thank you & Congratulations HOXANs!!

Thanks to the generosity of about 40+ Hoxans, we were  successful in raising  Rs 5.4 Lakhs for a kidney transplant for  Nandita Sinha (wife of HOXAN, Amitava Sinha '57).  Nandita underwent a successful kidney transplant on Dec 12th, 2012.

An appeal was posted on this website and together with Principal, Fr. PJ James, we sent out mass emails to HOXANs starting in May 2012. There were several hurdles along the way: the cost of the transplant went up, and worse, Amitava Sinha's daughter, who was initially slated to be kidney donor, was ruled out because of medical issues and Amitava had to look for a paid  outside donor.  With the help of his ex employer, and  others  Amitava Sinha had to raise an additional 2-3 lakhs. Luckily, everything came through in the end . If all goes well, Nandita who is currently recovering at the hospital, will be able to go home in about a week.

HOXANs can be proud that we have lived up to the spirit of our school motto: "in veritate et caritate" !

But further, this little success story tells us, that together,  we HOXANs can be a very powerful force  for good.  There are about  12,000 xaverian alumni. Just imagine if just 40 HOXANs could achieve this, how much more could be done  if more of us chose to be involved in helping our needy fellow HOXANs, or the school, or our  community? !!

Amitava Sinha has personally thanked most of the individual donors; however, he was unable to thank a few because donations had come in an anonymous fashion. Amitava wishes to convey his thanks again to all the donors and well wishers.  This website  admin thanks Fr. Principal PJ James, SJ and  all donor hoxans for their noble gesture! A list of HOXAN donors can be viewed below.

As Nandita Sinha, recovers in hospital, please keep her in your hearts and prayers, and lets hope for and wish for her a speedy recovery. Feel free to convey your wishes to the Amitava Sinha family in the comments section.
