Tarun Sarkar completed his schooling from SXS HZB in 1956. He was in the first batch of students joining the school in 1952. He was the first goalkeeper of the school football team. He went on to do a B.E. degree at Shibpur Engineering College. After that he joined Raniganj Coal Association. When the company was nationalised he joined Coal India. He retired as the General Manager (Civil) Eastern Coalfields Limited, Asansol. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
