Ajit Singh (1968)

Jyoti was an extremely lively personality - a good student, an excellent sportsman and a great friend.
I distinctly remember one lively class debate where when Jyoti could not take any more rebuttals to his arguments, he leaned across from the debating table and glared down at the opposing team's captain and growled something to this effect - " one more word from you Mr. Dilip Mitra and I'll smash your head."
What followed was sheer bedlam with a frantic Peter Coleman swinging the bell furiously in an desperate effort to bring peace and crying - "peace, peace."
It was drama, comedy, pantomime - you name it - at its best. Peter Coleman's histrionics were quite evident.
I still remember the joint escapades that we both participated in - escaping from school in order to have a wonderful 'Chicken do pyaza' dish with crisp buttered naan at Standard Restaurant. The Restaurant has not survived but I have not had the privilege of tasting better do pyazas.
Rest my friend. You will continue to live large in our hearts - We'll always remember you.
